How PayKonnect Connects Payroll and Retirement
PayKonnect sits between your payroll system and the recordkeeper — transforming, validating, and delivering data in both directions. One integration handles 100+ payroll sources and 80+ recordkeepers.
Integration Capabilities Built for the Retirement Ecosystem
Not a generic iPaaS. Every feature is designed specifically for payroll-to-retirement data workflows, with the regulatory depth that enterprise payroll operations and compliance teams require.
180° Payroll-to-Retirement Integration
Automated one-way data flow: census and contribution data delivered to recordkeepers each pay cycle in their required format. Handles every payroll frequency and format.
360° Bidirectional Integration
Adds the return data path: participant elections, deferral changes, and loan updates flow back from recordkeepers to payroll via API write-back or structured notification.
Multi-Format Transformation
Ingests CSV, XML, fixed-width, API, PDF, database, and POS/timekeeping data. Every format used in payroll-to-retirement workflows — no custom builds required.
SECURE 2.0 Compliance
Roth catch-up (ages 50+) and super catch-up (ages 60–63, $11,250 for 2026) fully supported. Prior-year SSA wages and designation flags in every 180° data stream.

Trusted by Payroll Companies, HCM Platforms, and Retirement Providers
PayKonnect handles the recordkeeper-side complexity so we don't have to. Our clients get 401(k) integration without us maintaining format specs or tracking IRS regulation updates.
The Gusto-PayKonnect integration is how over 3,000 of our employer clients connect their payroll to major recordkeepers. It works automatically — employers don't have to think about it.
When IRS regulations changed with SECURE 2.0, PayKonnect updated the integration for all our employer clients before the January deadline. That's the value of a managed service.
SECURE 2.0 Is Not a Future Requirement. It's Now.
The IRS issued final Roth catch-up regulations in September 2025. Effective January 1, 2026, payroll-to-recordkeeper data flows must include prior-year Social Security wages, Roth catch-up designation, and super catch-up flags for participants aged 60–63 ($11,250 limit for 2026).
PayKonnect has been SECURE 2.0-ready since January 2026. Payroll companies using PayKonnect are already passing the correct fields — confirmed via Empeon's December 2025 release notes.
