One Integration Point. 100+ Payroll Systems. Normalized Data.

PayKonnect is the aggregation layer that gives retirement recordkeepers a single normalized data feed from 100+ payroll providers — eliminating the impossibility of maintaining direct connections to every payroll system your plan sponsors use.

The Integration Challenges You're Facing

!

Maintaining direct connections to every payroll vendor is operationally impractical — but plan sponsors expect their payroll system to connect

!

Each new payroll provider uses a different format, field name, and data cadence — creating a new integration project for each one

!

Contribution data errors from payroll systems (wrong amounts, missing participant IDs, format mismatches) create corrections work and compliance risk

!

SECURE 2.0 Roth catch-up and super catch-up require you to validate contribution limits against payroll data that most systems don't send correctly

How PayKonnect Solves This

Single integration point: connect to PayKonnect once and receive normalized contribution and census data from 100+ payroll providers in your required format

Ascensus lists PayKonnect across a large swath of payroll vendors in its May 2026 payroll integration partner directory — demonstrating the network effect

360° return flow: send participant elections, deferral changes, and loan updates back to payroll systems via API write-back or structured notification

SECURE 2.0 validation fields supported: prior-year SSA wages, super catch-up designation for ages 60–63, YTD SSA wages — passed correctly from each payroll source

The Recordkeeper’s Core Integration Challenge

You need contribution and census data from hundreds of different payroll systems. Each one emits different fields, in different formats, on different schedules. Maintaining direct integrations with even twenty payroll vendors would require a dedicated engineering and operations team. The economics of building and maintaining direct connections to 100+ payroll providers don’t work.

The solution is aggregation — one connection to a layer that normalizes data from every source and delivers it to you in your required format. PayKonnect is that layer.

What Ascensus’s Partner Directory Signals

Ascensus’s May 2026 payroll integration partner directory lists PayKonnect across a large swath of payroll vendors. This is one of the most authoritative public signals of PayKonnect’s network reach — Ascensus maintains this directory to tell plan sponsors which payroll-to-recordkeeper paths are supported. When PayKonnect appears across that many payroll vendors in a major recordkeeper’s own directory, it reflects the operational reality: PayKonnect is how those connections work.

SECURE 2.0 and the Data You Need

The IRS’s September 2025 final Roth catch-up regulations created a specific obligation: plans that use a payroll aggregator must ensure the aggregator passes the correct prior-year FICA wages field. You cannot independently calculate this — it must come from payroll. PayKonnect passes this field correctly as of January 2026.

For participants aged 60–63, the super catch-up contribution limit ($11,250 for 2026) requires a designation flag and YTD Social Security wages that PayKonnect also includes in the 180° data stream.

This matters for your compliance posture. A recordkeeper that validates SECURE 2.0 catch-up data but doesn’t receive the correct fields will either reject contributions or process them incorrectly — creating correction procedures and potential IRS liability for plan sponsors.

The 360° Return Flow

The most underappreciated part of the PayKonnect model for recordkeepers: you can push data back. When a participant makes a deferral election through your portal, PayKonnect can route that election change to the appropriate payroll system — eliminating the lag between participant intent and payroll execution.

For recordkeepers using Vestwell’s platform or J.P. Morgan’s ProgramPay, this bidirectional flow is documented in the November 2025 support articles: PayKonnect enables 80+ payroll provider connections with return data routing.
